Do est un verbe essentiel en anglais qui peut être soit un auxiliaire, soit un verbe lexical signifiant "faire".

C'est un verbe irrégulier qui a 5 formes : do /duː/ does /dʌz/ did /dɪd/ done /dʌn/ doing /ˈduːɪŋ/
A la négation contractée, il se prononce ainsi : don't /dəʊnt/ doesn't /ˈdʌznt/ didn't /ˈdɪdənt/

En tant qu'auxiliaire, à la négation, à l'interrogation, à l'interro-négation et plus rarement à la forme emphatique, la forme do(es) permet la conjugaison du Simple Present et la forme did celle du Simple Past:
