Le Past Be + ing est une forme du passé aussi appelée passé progressif ou 'past continuous'.
Il s'emploie, en général, pour exprimer une action en cours dans le passé, ce qui correspond à l'imparfait français. Il s'oppose au Simple Past, qui indique une action ponctuelle.
I was walking in my street, when a car stopped near me. Je marchais dans ma rue, quand une voiture s'arrêta près de moi.
Il se forme en conjugant l'auxiliaire 'be' au passé et en mettant le verbe à la forme 'ing'.
Il se conjugue de la manière suivante pour le verbe 'work':
